New Ship Class Launches a New Era

Seven Seas Prestige represents a new era for Regent Seven Seas Cruises as we once again elevate standards in ultra-luxury, all-inclusive vacations,” says Andrea DeMarco, Regent Seven Seas’ president. “We’re delighted to continue our long-established relationship with Fincantieri, a storied name in shipbuilding.”

Joining DeMarco at the steel-cutting ceremony were Harry Sommer, president and CEO, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH); Patrik Dahlgren, NCLH’s executive vice president vessel operations; Francesco Semeraro, senior vice president of hotel operations, Regent Seven Seas; and Alberico Trivellone, NCLH’s senior vice president, newbuild and refurbishment.

Several top Fincantieri executives also attended the event. Luigi Matarazzo, general manager of the Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division, called the new build a “revolutionary vessel for the ultra-luxury cruise industry.”

Tidbits: New Luxury Ship Class

So, what should potential guests know about the new 77,000-ton Regent Seven Seas ship? “Well, it’s quite early in the new-build process,” explains Shelby Steudle, president, Pavlus Travel. “But we do know that this new luxury ship class — Regent Seven Seas’ first in 10 years — will boast one of the industry’s highest space-to-guest ratios.

Also look for many soon-to-be-announced innovations for the new Seven Seas Prestige. Among those, says Regent Seven Seas, will be the “reimagining” of the palatial Regent Suite. Plus, guests will discover several new accommodations categories.

And this new Prestige-class ship, the first of two to be built, will introduce new dining experiences, yet to be detailed.

The last new builds for the ultra-luxury line were three Explorer-class ships. Also built by Fincantieri, those were launched in 2016, 2020, and 2023.
