For travelers seeking a highly immersive Japan and South Korea experience, The Meandering Traveler has a great new option to showcase! How about an exotic “Sakura Seas: Japan and South Korea” itinerary? It’s a new, 14-day Tauck tour and cruise!
In fact, it’s Tauck’s first-ever itinerary featuring Seoul, South Korea. This enticing vacation begins in that capital city with a three-night stay.
Guests can choose from three fantastic hotel options: the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, Conrad Seoul or Four Seasons Seoul.

New Tauck Tour: By Land and Sea
During their time in Korea’s capital, Tauck’s guests will head out on guided visits to landmark sites in and around the city. Among them are the 14th-century Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Korean War Memorial Museum.
“Travelers will also explore traditional Hanok village homes, shop in a vibrant local market, and have free time to explore as they wish,” says Shelby Steudle, president, Pavlus Travel. Good to note? Pavlus is the world’s largest seller of Tauck. So, all its personal travel planners, who never charge a service fee, are Tauck-certified experts.
Back to the itinerary, though, to provide you with more information about this appealing tour-and-cruise vacation. It focuses on northern Asia’s vibrant culture, history, and cuisine.
After touring Seoul’s highlights, travelers will board a high-speed bullet train to Busan, South Korea. After touring that city, they’ll embark on Ponant’s elegant small ship, the 264-passenger Le Soleal, for a pampering eight-night boutique luxury cruise.
Cruising around Japan

First up during the voyage is the fishing port of Sakaiminato, Japan. There, Tauck’s guests will have a choice of activities ashore. Then this itinerary continues to Hagi. What’s there to see and do? How about samurai-era homes, castle ruins and the city’s renowned pottery?
In Beppu, Tauck’s guests can relax in hot springs or visit scenic geothermal sites. Or they might instead tour the historic Usuki Castle Town.
“Next up is Uwajima, often a popular spot for an excursion to a pearl farm,” says Pavlus’ Steudle. “Or travelers might opt for a different excursion to a traditional Japanese garden. This outing also includes a calligraphy demonstration and tea ceremony. Talk about cultural immersion!”
New Tauck Tour and Cruise
Le Soleal then continues to Miyajima Island for views of the iconic floating torii (a shrine rising from the sea waters). Next, Tauck’s guests will visit Hiroshima with an opportunity to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
After the ship docks in Tamano, guests might choose a cycling excursion through town, explore art on Naoshima Island, sample craft beer, or travel to Kurashiki to enjoy a walking tour.
In Kobe, options include a local city tour or an overland excursion to famous temples in Kyoto.

After disembarking in Osaka, guests will then stay two more nights at a choice of hotels in Tokyo. They’ll also enjoy guided city sightseeing including visits to the Meiji Shrine and Edo Museum.
One final highlight is Tauck’s planned farewell dinner and a sumo wrestling demonstration!
Tauck will offer three departures of its new “Sakura Seas: Japan & South Korea” itinerary. Fares, at press time, started at $16,490 per person, double occupancy.
Eastbound sailings from Seoul to Tokyo are offered on April 10 and April 26, 2026. One westbound departure from Tokyo to Seoul is on April 19, 2026.
Guests enjoy highly inclusive value. In its pricing, Tauck includes all shore excursions, all gratuities, onboard beverages (adult and otherwise), airport transfers, all taxes and fees, and more.
