For the ultimate in exploration, ultra-luxury Seabourn has announced its first-ever, 94-day “Pole to Pole: Grand Expedition” voyage in 2027! Sailing than 20,500 nautical miles, the 264-passenger Seabourn Venture will cover territory that spans 82 degrees north to 66 degrees south in latitude.

This one-of-a-kind trip is akin to a World Cruise in nature. But directionally, it sails north to south, not east to west. Plus, it’s an expedition cruise with Zodiac rides, kayaking, submersible outings, hiking and other exploratory activities.

Seabourn’s guests will visit remote destinations, view rare wildlife and have immersive expeditions in both the High Arctic and Antarctica, as well as plenty of spots in between. “Think of this voyage as a once-in-a-lifetime combination of eco-adventure and Seabourn’s signature luxury experiences,” says Shelby Steudle, president, Pavlus Travel.

Important Note: Right now, the voyage won’t open for public sale until August 13, 2025. That’s why it’s now showing as “waitlisted” on Seabourn’s site. But past guests can reserve a spot and have first dibs at the accommodations. So, chat with your personal travel planner about a pre-sale reservation.

New-to-Seabourn guests should also call to express their interest. That way, your advisor can assist in making the booking when general sales open. Also, travelers can talk to the personal travel planner about other enticing Seabourn voyages to the Arctic, Northwest Passage and Antarctica.

Eco-Adventure Plus Luxury

Let’s just look at this Grand Expedition to get a sense of how Seabourn is creating new in-depth expedition experiences. Departing on August 17, 2027, and concluding November 19, 2027, this adventurous vacation will begin with an overnight stay in Reykjavik, Iceland.

That’s followed by a charter flight to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, where guests will embark the ship. Over the course of the sailing, Seabourn Venture will offer 60 days of expedition experiences. The voyage route will also touch 14 countries and territories.

The full itinerary is shown in the drawing above. Highlights of this pole-to-pole itinerary? Guests will spend five days in Antarctica, three in South Georgia, and three in the Falkland Islands. Plus, they’ll have six days in the famed Northwest Passage.

In addition, guests will head out on a new experience to the remote, rarely visited Ellesmere Island in the Arctic Archipelago.

“But it’s not all eco-adventure,” says Pavlus’ Steudle. “During 33 sea days — or approximately one third of the voyage — guests can relax and enjoy Seabourn Venture’s dining, lounges, enrichment talks, spa and onboard activities.”

How about a pampering massage, wine tasting, wellness activity or cooking demonstration? And you’ll earn bragging rights. So, later you can tell friends and family about how you crossed the Equator, Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, adding that you did so all in one voyage!

But there’s more! Between the polar regions, the ship will travel to sun-drenched tropical islands and coastal regions in the Caribbean and South America. For instance, guests will go ashore in Barbados, St. Lucia, Port-of-Spain in Trinidad, and Montserrat, among other destinations.

The voyage then will conclude in Ushuaia, Argentina, followed by a charter flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pole to Pole: Reserving Your Spot

“Our ‘Pole to Pole: Grand Expedition’ is unlike anything we’ve ever offered,” says Mark Tamis, president of Seabourn. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime journey designed for travelers who dream of exploring the ends of the Earth in total comfort and luxury.”

This epic voyage will combine luxury cruising on board the ship with views of remote polar landscapes, cultural encounters, and wildlife viewing. Keep your eyes peeled as you might spot polar bears, whales, penguins, musk ox and seals.

Along the way, guests will gain insight into remote cultures and explore rarely visited spots, guided by Seabourn Venture‘s expedition team. Enriching talks will help guests understand the science, history, and ecology of each destination.

Another plus? The expedition ship’s 30,000 square feet of open deck space will offer an ideal vantage point for possibly witnessing the Northern Lights.

In the High Arctic, travelers will venture deep into the remote reaches of Greenland and northern Canada. “Travelers will sail through much of the infamous Northwest Passage,” says Pavlus’ Steudle.

She adds: “They’ll visit South Georgia where they may witness a wildlife sanctuary that’s home to more than 450,000 pairs of King Penguins.” Steudle also says Seabourn Venture’s guests might spot black-browed albatrosses and four species of penguins in the Falkland Islands.

Pole to Pole: Seabourn Venture

Seabourn Venture offers a luxurious, small-ship experience. So, guests will enjoy complimentary world-class dining; premium spirits and fine wines; and spacious, luxuriously appointed suites.

All suites have private verandas, as well as service by a personal host and attendant. Each suite also has a heated wardrobe, interactive entertainment and Swarovski binoculars.

Seabourn’s “Pole to Pole: Grand Expedition” voyage will offer a wide range of expedition experiences. Here’s a roundup of the highlights:

  • A 23-person expedition team of scientists, scholars, naturalists, and more will provide engaging programming.
  • Guests will listen to daily expedition recaps and briefings, as well as fireside chats and destination-specific enrichment.
  • Expedition team members will guide Zodiac tours, hikes and nature walks ashore.
  • Signature Seabourn experiences will include a “Polar Plunge” and “Caviar on Ice.”

Seabourn Venture is a PC6 Polar Class vessel with modern hardware and technology. Even near the ends of the Earth, guests can stay connected with friends and family back home. How so? This ship is equipped with Starlink-powered, enhanced Wi-Fi.

Visual Perks

Most notably, a 4K GSS Cineflex camera is mounted on the mast of the Constellation Lounge. That camera broadcasts any spectacular scenic views or wildlife imagery — a polar bear walking across an icy landscape or sea lions on an ice floe, for instance — from miles away. The imagery is then displayed on monitors throughout the ship and in guest suites

In addition, the voyage will offer “Image Masters.” That’s an optional onboard photography workshop that provides in-the-field instruction about photo composition, camera technique, editing, and retouching. It will be led by the ship’s photographer.

For those thinking of any cruise on Seabourn Venture, here are two good resources. Just after this ship launched in 2022, The Meandering Traveler sailed on it. Here’s a link to that extensive “first look” blog with much detail and photos showing the luxury expedition ship’s interior.

Separately, two Pavlus Travel team members recently sailed aboard Seabourn Venture, so check out their feedback.

In addition to the 94-day “Pole to Pole: Grand Expedition” described above, Seabourn will offer a shorter 82-day “Grand Expedition: Arctic to Antarctica” option from August 29, 2027, to November 19, 2027.

Guests sailing on either voyage will receive a curated, value-packed menu of benefits that includes:

  • One submarine dive in one of the ship’s two custom-built submarines
  • Upgraded streaming Wi-Fi packages, powered by Starlink (for two devices)
  • Unlimited laundry services
  • Two kayak tours, one per hemisphere
  • A commemorative, custom Polar Parka designed exclusively for the Grand Expedition

Fares and Reservations

Yes, as one might expect this is a high-end cruise, but it’s a three-month, one-of-a-kind, “bucket list,” and the ultimate adventure. At press time, fares for the 94-day “Pole to Pole: Grand Expedition” itinerary in a veranda suite started at $104,999 per person, double occupancy. Rates are subject to change.

In addition, The Meandering Traveler has asked Seabourn for a sample fare for the bit shorter, 82-day “Grand Expedition.” We’ll post that here as soon as it’s received from the line.

As noted, these voyages are showing as waitlisted on Seabourn’s site. But if you’re a past Seabourn guest, it’s important to contact your personal travel planner now. “That way, if you’re a past guest, we can make a reservation for you or get you high up on any waitlist that may develop, before the sales open to the general public on August 13, 2025,” says Pavlus’ Steudle.

Keep in mind that Seabourn also offers many other eco-adventure cruises — long and short. Some are easier on the budget and with good availability.

For example, a 13-day “Antarctica Exploration” by Seabourn Venture will operate roundtrip from Ushuaia, Argentina, on January 29, 2027. At press time, a veranda suite on that departure was priced at $13,769 per person, double occupancy.

So, chat with your personal travel planner about the many Seabourn expedition options. “We’ll match you with one that will fit your needs,” says Steudle. Soon, you’ll be communing with polar bears or penguins in a trip of a lifetime.
