What could be more fun than a “60th Anniversary Mexican Riviera Voyage” on Princess Cruises? How about a 60th Anniversary Love Boat voyage hosted by Jill Whelan?
While Princess itself was founded in 1965, the 1970s-80s TV series “The Love Boat” truly helped make Princess a household name. Whelan played Captain Stubing’s young daughter Vicki in the series.
So, during this special cruise, guests will mix and mingle with Whelan. They’ll likely learn more about the TV series and beloved cast members.
But even better, what if The Temptations performed? Well, that’s going to happen too.
Otis Williams, the last surviving original group member, will perform 1960s Motown hits. He’ll be joined in that effort by excellent tribute singers. They now perform as a group under The Temptations banner.

Open for sale now, this 14-day voyage by Royal Princess will set sail roundtrip from the Port of Los Angeles on December 6, 2025. The ship will call at some of the same ports that Princess’ former Princess Patricia visited during its first-ever voyage on December 3, 1965.
The celebratory cruise includes two overnight stays in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Plus, Princess says the ship will visit the ports of Loreto, Manzanilla and Mazatlan.
60th Anniversary Love Boat Tribute
The exciting announcement about the special cruise later this year was delivered by Whelan, who serves as Princess Cruises’ Celebrations Ambassador. Look for additional information revealing onboard events and additional special guests to be announced soon.
But to mark the occasion of the upcoming 60th anniversary Love Boat cruise, The Temptations recently performed the beloved “My Girl” song live for guests on Discovery Princess.
60th Anniversary Love Boat Memories
“As we prepare to celebrate our 60th anniversary, we can’t help but look back at where it all began with one ship sailing to Mexico,” says Gus Antorcha, president of Princess Cruises.
“This commemorative 60th anniversary cruise will not only pay tribute to our rich history but also bring together the joy of cruise travel, music and unforgettable moments,” he believes.
“Word is out that this celebratory cruise is expected to draw strong appeal and likely book up quickly,” says Shelby Steudle, president, Pavlus Travel. “Give us a call ASAP if it’s of interest to you. It’s a one-of-a-kind event!”
At press time, pricing for an inside cabin started at $2,217 per person, double occupancy. A balcony stateroom began at $2,843 per person, double occupancy.
Mini-suite accommodations began at $4,317 per person, double occupancy. A pampering suite started at $8,019 per person, double occupancy.
60 Years and Counting
“Today, Princess Cruises has grown from just one ship to 16 razzle-dazzle cruise ships,” says Pavlus‘ Steudle. “So, travelers have a wide choice of itineraries and experiences across the globe.
“In addition, the line’s 17th ship — the all-new Star Princess — will debut this October,” she adds.
But Steudle also explains that “for many travelers, it’s also fun to look back and celebrate with Princess.”
In 2023, The Meandering Traveler previously talked one-on-one with Whelan about her memories of “The Love Boat” show. We also chatted about her enduring friendships over the decades with those TV cast members.
