For a fun, tasty, creative dining experience, Princess Cruises’ newest culinary gem – Love by Britto – is now open on the 4,300-passenger Sun Princess. Guests are savoring every moment of the experience created by culinary master Rudi Sodamin and art icon Romero Britto.
Simply put, it’s a feast both for the eyes and the palate. Love by Britto serves up a delectable, seven-course, prix-fixe menu.

Love by Britto: Making Guests Happy
“The art of Romero Britto makes people happy with his unique expression of the universal language of love,” says Rudi Sodamin, head of culinary arts for Princess Cruises. In addition, “his creative inspiration blends with my culinary passion to deliver a high-end, meticulously curated menu.”
Sodamin, whom The Meandering Traveler has interviewed in the past, says that the duo desired to create a transformative dining experience — leaving guests full of memories and overflowing with love.
“We’re both proud to see Love by Britto come to life with Sun Princess guests celebrating this exclusive dining event,” he says. The goal is to showcase the harmony between food, art and love.
So, where will guests find this new eatery? On Deck 17 aft, guests will enter an intimate 68-seat venue.
Noticeable in the decor is an exquisite display of Britto’s familiar and joyful artistic designs. Diners will be immediately immersed in a restaurant of vivid colors, bold patterns and heartfelt emotions.
A bonus for couples seeking a romantic dining experience are breathtaking ocean views.
A Bit About Britto
Considered by some as the “most licensed artist in history,” Britto is the founder of what’s called the “Happy Art Movement.” He’s created a visual language of happiness, fun, love and hope. Click this link for facts about Britto’s joyful artistic style and joyful approach.
Born in Brazil, Britto traveled to Europe to study art, and then in the late 1980s relocated to Miami, where his studio is located. Throughout his multi-decade career, his works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums in more than 120 countries.
He’s also created many public and private art installations, not to mention the largest in the history of London’s Hyde Park. Britto opened Super Bowl XLI in collaboration with the Cirque Du Soleil.
Britto also served as the official artist for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, ambassador to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, and honorary torch bearer and ambassador for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Love by Britto: The Tasty Details
The seven-course Love by Britto dining experience begins with such dishes as “Oysters with Lemongrass Kefir, Mirin and Gold Flakes.” Many of the dishes feature creative heart-shaped presentations.
Guests will find such dishes as these on the menu as well:
- Tuna and avocado, pomegranate, togarashi
- Cappuccino of wild mushroom soup
- Salad of beets, figs and goat cheese
- Granita of pink Champagne and rose petals
- Beef tenderloin and truffle jus
- Tail of lobster thermidor
Then, in true “Love Boat” style, dessert is a heart-shaped chocolate lava cake, fresh berries and raspberry cream. Plus, Love by Britto provides some tasty petit fours.
Good to Know?
“Diners can also expect such special touches as dinnerware featuring Britto’s art, heart-folded napkins and even cutlery with heart-shaped cut-outs,” says Shelby Steudle, president, Pavlus Travel.
As for cost, Love by Britto carries a $79 per person cover charge. “Guests can book this creative, culinary experience pre-cruise in the Princess app,” she explains.
Guests can also expect to find specialty cocktails and an extensive wine list. Those are available a la carte.
We’d likely order the “Strawberry Love Potion,” created with Tequila Rose, Disaronno Amaretto, Chambord and strawberries. Separately, the eatery can serve up a “Britto Coupe.” That features Grey Goose Strawberry and Lemongrass, Aperol, Cointreau, lime and strawberries.
Another option is “Expresso My Love,” concocted with Jameson, OM Chocolate Liqueur, Disaronno Amaretto, demerara, chocolate bitters and espresso.
More Dining on Sun Princess
In total, though, you’ll definitely not go hungry or thirsty on Sun Princess. The new ship offers 30 restaurant and bar venues. It’s a foodie’s delight at sea.
The ship was the first to officially designate a Princess ship as having three main dining venues. Here’s a look at that new concept from The Meandering Traveler’s previous blog.
In addition, Sun Princess’ other specialty and high-end dining experiences include:
- Spellbound by Magic Castle: This experience blends magic with the art of culinary and mixology.
- Makoto Ocean: Chef Makoto Okuwa reshapes the traditional sushi experience with a creative approach. He’s the master of Edomae-style sushi. Look for playful, creatively presented dishes that pay tribute to Japanese traditions.
- The Butcher’s Block by Dario: At this new specialty pop-up steak restaurant from famous butcher Dario Cecchini, guests will dine on Cecchini’s signature cuts.
- The Catch by Rudi: Sun Princess also has a separate Rudi Sodamin restaurant with tasty treasures from the sea.
- Good Spirits at Sea with Rob Floyd: Celebrity mixologist Floyd offers destination-inspired, one-of-a-kind cocktail creations.
Coming to U.S. Shores Soon
Debuting earlier this year, the new 177,882-ton Sun Princess is the next level “Love Boat.” It’s currently sailing a series of Mediterranean voyages. Then, it will arrive at Port Everglades in Greater Fort Lauderdale, FL, in October.
During winter 2024-2025 and again the following winter season, Sun Princess will sail Caribbean voyages. For those who love sunning on the beach, relaxing water play or an island vibe — rather than a fast-paced, bustling, port-a-day itinerary — here’s one good option.
The ship’s seven-day “Eastern Caribbean with Bahamas” voyages sail roundtrip from Port Everglades. Guests will visit two of Carnival Corporation’s (Princess’ parent company) gorgeous, private island-style destinations. Ships of multiple brands call at both.
Those destinations include Princess Cays in the Bahamas and Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. Plus, guests will go ashore at Grand Turk in the Turks & Caicos. And guests will enjoy three relaxing days at sea.
Sun Princess‘ Starting Fares
At press time, the “Eastern Caribbean with Bahamas” fares (based on “per person, double occupancy” bookings) started at $857 for an interior stateroom, $1,097 for an oceanview accommodation, $1,348 for a balcony stateroom, $1,819 for a mini-suite, and $4,659 for a suite.
So, talk to a Pavlus Travel personal travel advisor to learn more and ask any questions. You could be relaxing later this year or early next on a sparkling new ship and fabulous beaches in the Bahamas and Caribbean.
An added plus is the joy and creative dining now available at the new Love by Britto!
